PTO negotiations update

Dear Brothers and sisters,

We have entered into negotiations with the company to ratify a new labor contract.  The first article we will be working on is article 33 (Personal Time Off).  Our plan is to negotiate a beneficial article that will meet the members’ needs, if an agreement can be reached and the membership votes to ratify the article; we will drop the current Unfair Labor Practice lawsuit (ULP) against the company.  We will be negotiating for PTO rollover, sick time and increased PTO.  We hope to have the contents ready for the membership to vote on by the end of the month which we will in turn call for a special meeting in Maricopa and Pima County respectively.

Membership has its privileges.

As members of the Local I-60 you have the right and privilege to vote whether to approve or reject every part of this new contract.  As President of this Local I am only an extension of your voice.  Whatever this local negotiates is only a suggestion to the membership; you have the final voice.   For those of you who are not members your voice will fall on deaf ears.  Your livelihood will be dictated by the 500 members who support a coalition of those who care.  For those of you who feel that you will just slide by and get the same benefits as those who pay their dues ask yourself a couple questions; where would this company be without a Union?  Do you think we would have survived the tyranny of Jeff Sargent?   We are all in this together, support the Union that has always supported you, and we will ratify an amazing contract.

Fraternally,

Jason Payne

President, IAFF, Local I-60
